So this goes out to all women. You don't have to be a mom to respond! What to do, what to do?? So here's the run down...I went and picked up my kids from school and as we were happily getting in the truck, Hailey turns to me and says she wants to go to Target. I said that my feet were hurting because an hour before, I got an injection in my heel, (Heel Spurs = Another story!) anyway I said maybe later. Okay fine! Then it was, I wanna go to McDonalds. To which I said, "not today Hailey, You just had Mickey Ds for dinner last night." Insert temper tantrum. Now try to picture that I have all three kids in the back seat, shes OF COURSE in the middle and now, wont put on her seat belt. So long story as short as I can get it, we had a small back and forth, put it on, No!! I will give you one more chance...1,2,3. No!! Fine I will do it. No you won't! Feet up in seat, turning around. So yes, I did pop her butt, and her hand when she tried to bite me!! Well.... we finally got home and I made her go to her room. She was fine. Crying a little but nothing crazy, and then "IT" happened.........almost out of no where, as I was walking out, she stomped her feet and said......."Mommy, I don't like you!! I really, really don't like you! You are a mean Mommy!!" So I ask, What do I do?? I knew this day would come and part of me wants to laugh and the other wants to cry :( I also know this is the first of many, I don't like you's, but the first, ahhh the first!!! I guess it's true what they say...You never forget your first!! Soooooo, where do we go from here???? HELP!!!

Laura, I know how you feel. I have 4 kids and this has happened. This is what I have done... Let her calm down, after a little bit go to her without the other kids being around and ask her if she knows what she said to you. Talk about what she did wrong and why we can't always you can't always do all she wants. Tell her you love her and ask her again if she understands what was done wrong. After that, ask her to apologize and if she does then give her a big hug and a kiss. It's a learning experience for them also. Don't worry.... all will be fine!
ReplyDeletewhen my diva looses control, i just simply look at her and say thats ok, i still love you.
